Il mONACONE
Rosso Umbria IGT
DESCRIPTION:
Monacone is Cantina Monaco’s most prestigious label. It is a blend of Merlot and indigenous Umbrian grapes aged for 24 months in barriques. The famous Bordeaux grape variety expresses itself happily in this area of Umbria, giving an important richness of fruit that creates this great red wine, structured and harmonious, destined for long ageing. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature with maceration on the skins. The wine then matures for 24 months in French oak and American oak barriques, before being blended and finished in the bottle for a further 10 months. Intense ruby red in colour with luminous garnet reflections, it opens on the nose with a very intense and complex bouquet. The aromas of ripe cherry, wild blackberry, graphite and liquorice stand out in particular, complemented by notes of soft spices, black pepper and hints of tobacco. In the mouth, it reveals a body of great density and matter, which manages a perfect balance between tannin and frizziness. Ample and structured, it has a velvety texture, well fused with dense fruit, which accompanies towards a very harmonious, long and persistent finish.
